Vole King was invented by a gardener who was beyond frustrated because he couldn't prevent burrowing rodents from eating his plants.
I’m Scott Patten, the inventor of Vole King. Burrowing rodents routinely made my garden their kingdom until I permanently reclaimed my reign — and I want to help you do the same.
Raised in North Carolina, I graduated from North Carolina State University and started a landscaping business. Many of my clients were beyond frustrated because they couldn’t stop voles from destroying their plants. My clients were tired of wasting their time and their money on solutions that failed to protect their plants time and time again.
Around that same time, a childhood friend's father randomly showed me a metal basket he had made to prevent voles from eating his garden plants. He said, “Scott, if you find an easier way to make these baskets, your life will change.”
Zolt’s basket sparked my seven year mission to make a product that permanently protects plants from burrowing rodents. Hardware cloth is very sharp and very stiff — it's a pain to work with! Vole King baskets are anything but: They're extremely durable and appropriately flexible — we save our customers a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.
Today, we're proud to sell baskets in seven sizes, and we’re always working to make more products that will protect your plants from burrowing rodents — our newest product will launch in early 2025!
